Back home… or at least one of them

So im back in uruguay now and it feels like i never left. While on the coach i kept looking through the window and couldnt take my eyes off the road. I think unconsciously i was trying to soak everything up not because i missed the place but because it was part of my identiy and in the world im exppsed to, staying true to your roots its a rare thing.

Last time i came (3 years ago) the country i saw was somewhat the same one i left when i moved to the UK. But this time im seeing a real change in the spirit and mentality of the people. Uruguayans have always been hard working people that seem to be strugling to make a living, and while that’s still the case, they now sound more optimistic. I must mention the counyry has just secured a place in the world cup and electing a new president by - according to some- a landslide. On the subject of the latter, everybody here seems to be informed or at least aware of the affairs surrounding the latest election, which is something i didnt see much when i was living here.

Its good to see my country finally showing clear signs of improvement.
